I’ll ask you a question, and you'll guess higher or lower.

Let’s start:

  1. Do you think the AOV is higher or lower during the weeks leading up to Black Friday, when companies start rolling out their sales?

  1. What do you think their AOV is once the Black Friday discounts increase to 40%?

If you are doing it right, your average AOV should be INCREASING

How is this possible? If people buy the discounted product, the company would intuitively make less, right? Wrong.

This is where we find the power of Bundles.

Here’s a perfect example of a company crushing this concept. 

True classic tees run a sale of 40-60% off the entire month of November, but the caveat is the deals include massively bundled products. Even though the consumer is “saving” 40%, they are still spending $80, a much higher amount they would pay any other day they’d be browsing the website. 

We can take this and apply this concept year-round. 

A super easy way to increase your AOV is by offering and pushing a bundle or bundles.

This is a hack to get those KPIs to increase without creating a new product. 

If you don’t want to discount your product but want to increase AOV, you can offer a free gift when the customer reaches a specific price threshold in their cart. Kiehl’s does a great job of this and constantly displays bundles. 

They convince people that their products need to be used together. Whenever you look at the site, they will be running bundle deals that crush!
